The Gathering

During 4 days, the gathering of folk instruments and music takes place at the ‘Château d’Ars’ (close to La Châtre – France) with all the facets of traditional music present. The organisation aims to create a festival around the 130 instrument makers (hurdy-gurdies, bagpipes, accordion, stringed instruments and accessories) with a variety of musical activities (dance workshops, presentation of instruments, open or « participative » workshops, balls…), evening concerts, campsite and all this at an affordable price!

We are looking forward to seeing you …

INSTRUMENT MAKERS

Over one hundred instrument makers, from France and the rest of the world, display their instruments: listen, try out, ask questions ...and place an order. All instruments used in traditional and folk music are represented: drone instruments (hurdy gurdy, bagpipes) of course but also accordions, strings and percussion. Accessories (cases, strings, etc.)will also be on show and new this year, the show opens up to amplification systems for the acoustic instruments (microphones and amps makers).

THE ASSOCIATIONS’ STANDS AND TRADERS

You can buy CDs, subscribe to magazines, meet producers, artists, teachers, sell (or buy) an instrument second hand...

The association

Created in 2014 "le son continu” is a team of instrument makers, musicians, dancers and people passionate about folk music and 130 volunteers, who put all their energy together so that the annual gathering of players of traditional music continues to live on in the Berry.

Beyond the festive and friendly meeting, our aim is to present and promote our music to a wider audience and with the help of moderate prices encourage a new generation to seize our traditions and evolve, as the children of Saint Chartier did before them …

Everyone can support Le son continu in their own way!. Become an association member, volunteer or festival ambassador by relaying our news around you.
